Canadian teen discovers lost Mayan city by studying the stars. 15-year-old William Gadoury found an undiscovered link between Mayan city locations and the brightest constellations in the night sky. Fascinated with both Mayan culture and star charts, William laid the maps of 117 Mayan cities over maps of 22 constellations. “Based on my calculations," William says, "the correlation between the positions of the stars and those of the cities is 95% accurate.” William pointed the Canadian Space Agency to the location of an undiscovered Mayan city in Mexico. Sure enough, when scientists arrived, they found Mayan ruins under the earth. Archeologists are expected to conduct an exploration of the site which will last several years. William says visiting the city will be a dream come true.
